I came across this on: Book Trailers for Readers. I really like the way the teacher has stated clearly using an acronym about what to consider when making a blog post
The Blog Rules
B = Be Brief. Think about what you want to say and check your spelling as well as your grammar.
L= Log on correctly. Do not use your full name, only your initials or first name. You do not want to share personal information. However do use your teacher's name, your grade and school. See the example below.
O= Opinion. This is your opinion about this book. However make sure your comments are appropriate. Ask yourself is this post inappropriate, or immature in any way.
G = Global. Anyone in the world might be reading your post. You are representing yourself, your class, your school and your country. This is both exciting and an awesome responsibility.

Using Blogging at school helps students to:
•"Own their own learning"
•grow with their peers
•reflect on their thinking
•learn to colloborate
•improve their writing and digital literacy skills
•understand there is a global community who can help them learn even more
•become part of something bigger than their own classroom
•learn to use digital tools safely and appropriately
•begin to create a positive digital footprint

Decision:
I will use this blog host to keep my professional log going. As all of our class blogs use blogspot, it also makes sense for me to get to know the features available here.
To see my other blog, go to jaykay.edublogs.org Just be aware that any video based links (or widgets like my kiwifruit clock!!) are now in active and either just appear as code...or a blank.
Today we had Lyn Ross, the Te Apiti cluster facilitator sharing a presentation "What teachers want". It confirmed that we are on the right track as almost all tools she shared are ones that many of us use. It is always good to have positive validation of what we are doing. Another point was the real need for data projectors to be available in classrooms. It is so frustrating to not have the money to do things as soon as we can. However, we did manage to condense a 3 year purchasing projection into just 18 months, getting 4 terminals into every classroom (based on Extenda systems)

Long Time
It's been a while since I posted...especially on this blog host. Edublogs have disabled a the video feature in their free version and I am a bit annoyed. Blogger has up graded and now includes extra page options. I have tried, to no avail, to import my EduBlog into this blog. I have 3 options... copy and paste all posts form one site to the other...mega tedium so not an option! Continue using Edublogs but without any video content...I didn't have many video embeds any way so could just use links, or just keep on here at this point. I think I will keep the edublogs one going as it is over 18 months of my Professional Learning Log. Next year I will maybe start afresh here.
